Resin Play Craft Workshop – Cat-themed Jewellery

Nestled in a corner of the Adelphi is a wonderful little craft workshop called Resin Play.

A wonderful variety of quaint and beautiful jewellery and art pieces can be found. One may purchase them (I think they make great gifts) or attend a workshop to make them yourself!

The girls and I were kindly invited by owner Elaine to review her Resin Art workshop, where we were taught to make Cat Pendants and a Cat Dish, upon which you can place little knick-knacks like rings or earrings.

Note the amazing expanse of natural light, and the soothing view of St Andrew’s Cathedral behind the row of trees. Apart from being very conveniently located, the workshop is also a beautiful and calming space to create in.

We were taught how to mix resin with a hardener, and to add pigment or glitter before casting the resin in little silicone moulds. We could add little mosaic tiles and pour the resin such that they swirl and mix in unexpected ways. Resin is a special kind of polymer, so we learnt a bit of chemistry as we went along too!

We finished in about 90 minutes, and here’s what we made! It takes about 5 hours for the resin to harden, so I’ll be going back another time to make them into jewellery pieces.

Nothing delights me more than wearable art, bonus points if I made them myself!

I love crafting, and exploring new craft the best way to stay curious! Even better when it is an activity that my kids can easily participate in too.

Look at the other cute and quirky handmade items here. Elaine has a soft spot for cats, since she owns a rescue cat herself.  Products from the alfie de Meow line are also sold in support of the Cat Welfare Society.

This beautiful evocative tray, made from food-grade resin (so it is safe to serve food in it) was also created by Elaine and is for sale. Isn’t it simply lovely? You can almost hear the waves crashing in the deep.

Here’s some information on her June holidays workshops – the girls and I had such a wonderful therapeutic time making these pieces of art, so I’d highly recommend it!

If you are still wondering how to fill your June hols calendar, do explore the variety of workshops available from this site, and book a date with them.

Do feel free to enquire about classes, or hop on down to browse through the cute items in her shop!
