Jewel Changi Airport’s Canopy Park

These days, design is everything. And Canopy Park at Jewel is certainly top-notch in design. From each individual attraction to how the sequence within the park is planned, it all bears testament to deliberate, well thought-through design.

And no wonder, for the 14,000 square metres of play attractions are the creation of top designers from Singapore, the UK, France, Germany and Holland. Not just a wonder to behold, they are loads of fun to experience.

(From top L, clockwise) Walking nets, foggy bowl, mirror maze and discovery slides.

Canopy Park has certainly fulfilled its vision of creating a space where traditional outdoor activities are brought indoors for enjoyment under all weather conditions, especially with our climate’s unforgiving heat and fickle downpours.

Entrance to the park is ticketed ($4.50 per Singapore resident, $3 if you are a CapitaStar or Changi Rewards member), as are many of the other attractions in the park. There is a complex table of what to pay as you mix and match the activities you want to do (I’ve appended it near the end of the post), so do read on and then pick the combination that best suits you.

Here are the details on all the various activities the park has to offer, starting with those that we enjoyed the most!

Mirror Maze

This was B’s favourite and definitely makes the top three list for our family. We love mirror mazes!

Receiving a warm welcome from the staff bright and early in the morning.

There is something fascinating about being in a maze of tall mirrors, and having your mind constantly tricked by your eyes. An apt metaphor for life, for indeed things are often not what they seem.

I thought it was very special to have greenery draped overhead, instead of a dark ceiling – certainly helps relieve some claustrophobia if you need to!

Indeed, this is the world’s first mirror maze that is integrated into a garden setting. I do agree with the characterisation that the austere precision of the mirrors contrast well with the exuberant foliage above!

Bouncing Nets

These are nestled high near Jewel’s roof, which makes them look like eagle’s nests perched upon tree-lined cliffs.

Bouncing Nets is a timed hour-long attraction, designed as such to manage the crowd and ensure that everyone has enough space to have a pleasant experience.

This was my personal favourite! I am a U-Bound enthusiast, and a trampoline park maniac, so no surprise that I was bounding away here, much to the chagrin of some of my family members.

Stow your belongings away in free (albeit tiny) lockers and enter the bouncy pathway.

It is not very large (there are four main nets) and bouncing is a high cardio workout, so the hour we were allocated with was more than enough.

A ‘treehouse’ slide!

Walking Nets

I quite enjoyed this one, mostly because of the sensation of walking high above ground, and being able to see tiny people many floors down!

The girls were very gung-ho and took on the challenge happily.

They unknowingly chose the steepest side to begin their ascent, and made it up that way, whilst a boy turns around to wave at his mum.
Taking a breather.
How many floors can you see?
Check out all the tiny people beneath!

No running is allowed here, not to mention bouncing, so it makes for a very civilised leisurely walk. There is no time limit here, so you can sit down and pose for all the IG photos you want.

Discovery Slides

I loved how futuristic the Discovery Slides structure looked! Beautiful play architecture.

The girls had a great time experiencing the ‘vertical drop’ slide.

There are two other slides as well that don’t need protective gear, so lots of fun there! Kids have to be at least 110cm to go on the slides though.

Canopy Bridge

This is quite a popular attraction, but it’s not a very long bridge, and most of the views can be seen from the other free vantage points. It does have mist enveloping one end of the bridge every 10 minutes though, which can be fun for the kids.

You can get shots such as these……

Everyone loves a rainbow.

The bridge is somewhat glass-bottomed, so when I was on the ground floor I was a bit appalled to see folks in skirts way up there, but I suppose it’s too far to really see much anyhow.

Hedge Maze

This is a small maze with a little surprise…… revealed in the video below.

Canopy Park – Topiary Walk, Foggy Bowl and Petal Garden

All these three attractions, in addition to the Discovery Slides are free with the basic Canopy Park admission (from $3).

Topiary Walk

Beautiful backdrops for all those family photos!

This is my favourite.

Foggy Bowl

Young kids have loads of fun rolling down these gentle concave bowls. Mist is periodically emitted to simulate fog or playing amidst clouds. Cool. *pun intended*

Petal Garden

This garden has seasonal flowers displayed from all around the world, and makes for beautiful photo opportunities too.

All in all, if you do EVERYTHING, it’s going to set you back by quite a bit. So I’d say pick a few things, or space out the attractions, try 1-2 this time, and come back another time to do the rest.

Most of the ticketed attractions are one-time entry only. However, tickets to the Canopy Park are valid for re-entry in the same day. You get a cool ‘invisible’ stamp on your arm, and some UV light will reveal the following at re-entry.

I used to be skeptical about all the fuss folks were making about Jewel. But having been there twice, I must say it is quite awe-inspiring. Here’s a video I managed to catch of a sky train passing through this architectural wonder.

Note: Thanks Jewel Changi Airport for inviting our family to experience and review the Canopy Park attractions!
