Changi Experience Studio – Changi Airport, Jewel

Tucked away in a corner of Jewel is the Changi Experience Studio. To us, it was a state of the art experiential museum that is highly interactive. I’ve never come across anything quite like it.

Walking through the expansive space, one is first immersed in the rich history of Changi Airport, and then brought into the present, the future, and various games that give you a taste of what’s behind-the-scenes in running one of the world’s business airports.

A futuristic space greets us as we walk in, which forms blank canvas on which we learn how to operate the ingenious projection cards.

I was really impressed by the technology, which is of German origin. This is the first place in Asia to employ such technology! I thought it was a wonderful way to watch a story unfold, almost in the palm of your hand.

Fascinatingly informative

This section was interesting to me, as it traced the beginnings of Changi Airport. I recall the open air carpark that is now a thing of the past, because Jewel’s foundations are built over it.

Next, the Hanging Gardens, which are a delightful space, with ‘learning tables’……

…….where you can find out more about the ins and outs of the airport. The projectors are able to project a sharp image when you place your blank card on the table, and an animated story unfolds upon it.

There’s also a nice space inside where you can take photos to your heart’s content without jostling with the crowds. Definitely a win.

The kids loved this next section where you could find interesting snippets on all the many, many countries that Singapore is connected to, through the magic of flight paths.

The Games!

The interactive games are something that kids would love especially.

From this cycling game where individuals or teams can race against one another……

……to a large variety of interesting games that simulate airport interactions – they are quite challenging and addictive, so you’ve been warned! I heard that kids love trying out all the games and parents find it hard to get them to leave! There’s no time limit for being within the attraction, and it is recommended that you set aside about 90 minutes to fully experience all that it has to offer.

The next dimly lit section is a beautiful wonderland, where light and sound combine with your movement to bring about a magical experience.

Lift your cards up and down to add different instrument sounds to the symphony!

Here’s are some snippets so you get a glimpse of the magic!

Before you leave, don’t forget to catch The Finale, which is a 3 minute video in a small theatrette next to the exit. I won’t spoil the show for you, apart from saying that it must not be missed! The wrap around screen is awesome.
