The Treehouse Series by Andy Griffiths – Book Review

A year of so ago, some friends mentioned that their kids really enjoyed this Treehouse Series. I then bought all the books that were published, and the kids devoured them, chuckling aloud as they read. Love the lively covers too.

I read through some of the books, and was amused too! The characters are memorable and quirky, and the humour is pitched at the right age without being too slapstick or rude. I think it’s a great series for young readers transitting from picture books to chapter books, since there are quirky illustrations generously peppered throughout the book.

No wonder it has captured the hearts and minds of children all over the world, from the U.K., the U.S., Australia to Asia.

This year, the next book in the series – 104-Storey Treehouse – was published. After they had finished the rest of the books last year, the girls kept asking when the 104-Storey edition would come to Singapore. Well, it’s now available at all good bookstores!

Also, there’s a promotion going on now, where kids get a cool black and white pencilcase (pictured below) chock full of Terry Denton’s beautifully detailed illustrations, when you purchase any 2 Treehouse titles.

We hadn’t realised it before, but this popular series has spun off two activity books, which Pansing also sent to us (as pictured above and below). Jill Griffiths (Andy’s wife) collaborates in this, and aptly so since no one would be more familar with what activities kids enjoyment, than a mum!

The Treehouse Fun Book and Treehouse Fun Book 2 are great to bring along on a trip, especially for kids to entertain themselves, screen-free, for a couple of hours on a flight.

It contains a large variety of activities, ranging from word searches, crossword puzzles, spot the difference pictures, and lots of space to just doodle and create.

Perfect for those aged between 7-10.

These books leave so much more to the imagination, versus having our minds being fed mindless entertainment from a screen.

And guess what? Author Andy is coming to town on 14 October 2018, all the way from Australia. You can catch him at the venues mentioned below!
