A few months ago, the girls looked at our canvas photo prints on our wall at home and asked, “When is our next family photoshoot?”
Ah, music to my ears. So I went about arranging one with Firefly Photography, who had also taken our photos a few years ago.
We were given a few choices, and finally decided on Fort Canning as the location. And what lovely backdrops that old fort afforded!
We had a talented photographer in Douglas that day. He was very personable, and captured many shots that we loved!

Fort Canning has some really stunning structures, beautifully restored.
We took a jump shot too, and did many many jumps before getting some good shots!
Douglas also took some individual portrait shots for each of us. This was nice, since many a time I realise that I don’t have individual shots of the girls, and always make them pose together.
A good reminder that our kids are unique individuals and should not always be thought of as a pair.
I thought this was a beautifully captured shot of K’s flexibility at this age!
This is one of my favourite shots, as it highlights the beauty of the trees on this very bright morning.
The edited version gave a very different impressive feel! Like a shot in autumn.
There were many other precious photos that were captured for posterity that day; these are just a small sampling of the many shots that we will treasure and put on canvas to add to our photo walls.
Especially in these times as we face a global pandemic, it gives us pause to consider what really matters and what eternal destiny we ourselves are heading towards. At times like these, it becomes crystal clear that family is one of the things that matters most, and human relationships are to be cherished most, and spending time with those whom we mean something to is something to be prioritised.
