LUMOS EVOKE Digital Camera: Best Affordable DigiCam?

Looking for an affordable, light-weight digital camera that you can easily pop in your pocket to take great photos everywhere you go?

Your search is over – enter the LUMOS EVOKE Digital Camera.

Heard that digital cameras are once again all the rage with teenagers these days, and the LUMOS EVOKE checks all the boxes!

Flip Screen

Firstly, it comes with a cool flip-screen which makes it so easy to take selfies, wefies and for vlogging!

Built-in filters

No need to download any additional app – with 16 built-in filters to instantly set the mood you are thinking of, the LUMOS EVOKE brings you from the timeless charm of a vintage camera to Cinematic Cool.

Lightweight and compact

To me these days, the weight of an object is critical to whether I bring it out often. At just 190 grams, you can even fit it in the pocket of a dress! It would certainly not add much discernable weight to a sling bag or pouch either. You will then be able to whip it out at a meal or gathering to take instant photos of a gorgeous cake or two.

Great price point

Granted that this is no DSLR, but it’s affordable price point of $149 makes it a great gift for that teen in your life. The fact that it won’t break the bank also means that teens can easily save up to procure one for themselves!

Clear visuals, 16x Zoom

Shoot 64MP photos and smooth 4K videos at 30 fps to preserve those precious memories and fun moments.

With 16x Zoom, narrow in on your favourite targets or capture wildlife without getting so close that you scare them off!

All-day Battery

The LUMOS EVOKE’s long lasting battery means that you can shoot for extended periods of time without having to buy an additional battery to switch battery packs. Charging is also simple – the USB-C cable provided means you can charge from your laptop or any mobile battery charger. Say goodbye to having to remove the battery from the phone, insert it into its own two-pin plug charger, and connect it to a wall-socket charging point.

Downloading Photos

The camera set thoughtfully comes with a micro-SD card reader with a USB adapter. To download photos, you can just remove the MicroSD card from the camera (by pushing it inwards since the slot is spring-loaded – the card will pop out thereafter), insert it into the reader as shown, and then plug it straight into your device. This is not outlined in the instruction manual, so hope it’s helpful for folks here!

Another way (as detailed in the instruction manual), is to use the USB cable provided to connect the camera to your computer, wait for the UDISK removable disk icon to appear on your computer, and then download the contents from the DCIM folder.

Verdict

This is no high-end DSLR but for the price and weight, it does its job well. Personally, I enjoy all kinds of photography, and I was satisfied with the effect I obtained with the LUMOS EVOKE! All the photos shown here (apart from those featuring the camera itself) are unedited apart from using the ‘crop’ function – totally not enhanced in any way.
