Spent a wonderful 2 hours with my teenage kids making pottery pieces at Am I Addicted Pottery Studio. We were so impressed as we walked into this light-filled, airy and high-ceiling venue on the fifth floor of Orchard Central, spanning some 6,000 square feet, right in the heart of town.
Not only is it Singapore’s largest Korean pottery studio, it also houses its own kilns on-premise, thus making it a one-stop shop from start to finish.
With premium clay imported from Korea, we learnt how to throw the ball of clay onto the wheel, and followed Instructor Phoebe’s clear instructions step-by-step to make our view own piece of pottery. She was clear and patient, and it really seemed like magic when she stepped in to help us in our time of need! The clay just transformed in seconds at the touch of a true potter’s hand.
We had so much fun trying our own hand at the wheel, and it was therapeutic to watch the clay change as the wheel turned, as well as laugh at one another when our pieces got wonky.
It was really helpful that we could make 2 pieces of pottery within the 2 hour session, and the second time around, we were more familiar and thus more confident on how to manage the clay. We ended up being really pleased with our pieces!
It was also lovely to walk around and admire all the other interesting pieces that others had made. From the many shelves of pottery, it was clear that Am I Addicted is a really popular craft venue!
Was also pleased that we could choose one glaze colour for each pottery piece and there were ten colours to choose from! Quite a generous range.
For an extra charge of $30 for one piece, or $45 for two pieces, you could choose a special glaze that would allow you to paint your creations in a variety of colours. Just look at the gorgeous artwork below!
I really enjoyed just admiring the pottery pieces – it was like walking through an art gallery.
