I’m probably one of the last amongst my friends in the hood to check out this place.
About 10 mins walk from Kembangan MRT, South Union Park is located in a quiet row of shophouses, which bustles only during the pick-up hour of the Berries branch nearby.
They don’t have a kids’ menu yet, but we ordered some chicken soup which did the job nicely.
The fried chicken comprised bite sized chunks that were fresh, served piping hot, and thus truly delectable. The little bee-hive dollop of cream was also some magic formulation.
As for the little corn bread muffins? They were so yummy, five-year old B asked if she could have them all, and proceeded to promptly polish them off.
The Cheeseburger was of some fame, and the patty was not bad, but didn’t really wow us that much.
The duck confit pasta was executed very well, and the portion was quite generous.
But this was the best pasta I’ve eaten this year. The butternut pasta (which was actually ravioli stuffed with smooth, creamy blended butternut) with a generous scattering of fresh mushrooms, was simply delicious.
For dessert, the girls chose the cheesecake (in a jar) which was very very good, and the chocolate cake, which was spot on in its simplicity. There was also freshly baked cherry pie, which we decided not to add on to our dessert order, since we were quite full to the brim. Maybe next time!
The ambience was welcoming, service staff friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Important elements when it comes to deciding whether one should make a return visit.
