Sin Ming Roti Prata (Faizal & Aziz Curry Muslim Food)

When I re-discovered this prata stall recently, it was so good that we just had to go back again within weeks. After posting on IG, a friend mentioned that this was the prata stall she had loyally patronised since she was a child, and no other has ever come close. And I must say I agree!

Since I am no professional food blogger, let me quote one. Dr Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost fame, gave what he calls this – “artisanal prata” – 4.75 out of 5 points, and puts it best when he says:

It is shatteringly crisp on the outside but chewy and fluffy on the inside and leaves a buttery sweet taste at the back of the palette after you work through the satisfying chew.

It’s the best prata I have eaten in a long while and I have been thinking of revisiting again the whole of this week.

They are particularly famous for their coin prata set, which comes in a portion of 6 cute little crispy spiralled circles. The last time I went (with other family members lah), the soft-spoken man who took our order in perfect English had to double confirm that we wanted 2 coin sets (“You know that one set has six coins, yeah?”) in addition to the 8 kosong, 1 cheese, 1 telur plus 1 telur bawang pratas, as well as one kambing soup, thank you very much, sir. *burp*

And it was awesome. It was ALL awesome.

When they brought out that gargantuan pot of Nasi Briyani, I was floored. And portions are so generous – I saw him plating out (yup, cos they scoop the rice out with a plate) this mountain of rice! The kambing soup was simply melt-in-your-mouth delectable.

The clincher for me, is that they don’t use ghee in making their pratas. Hence, as healthy a prata as you can get? It was also less oily than most pratas, hence increasing the shiok quotient. After eating here, all other pratas pale in comparison (pun intended). So if you need to indulge, only go for the best! That’s my philosophy when it comes to food at least, haha.

  1. Oh my goodness, no wonder MummyWee had prata cravings after eating this post. Now I am thinking when we can swing by Sin Ming to try this prata! Must swing very hard coz we live very far! I don’t need to see what else Dr Leslie Tay said – I’d take your word for it! 🙂
