Sea Apple Shop is founded and owned by a Singaporean mum, and when I visited their website, I fell a little in love.

In a nutshell, Sea Apple produces high quality, modern clothes for children in simple, classic designs. Since I can’t put it any better (I tried!), here’s the ethos behind their creations.

…[We] source for better quality materials (e.g. from European and Japanese mills, brandname fabrics like Liberty, organic fibres) and work with partners who may be a little more expensive, but that we feel meet our standards for manufacturing quality and responsibility.

We do not believe in over-designing for children. This is why we keep our garment shapes simple and classic, and choose materials that are natural, comfortable and laid back for everyday wear. What we focus a lot more on is pattern design, color and the story or feel behind each of our collections.

If you’re wondering about the name like I did, Sea Apple Shop is named after the Sea Apple Tree, which is one of the 10 most common trees in Singapore, planted mainly along our coast. Lovely name with a nod to our roots (pun intended).

This photo of the flower buds from this tree reminds me most of the clothes from Sea Apple Shop. Beauty in simplicity.

My little girls were privileged to be given a dress each from Sea Apple’s debut collection for Chinese New Year 2016. Aren’t the dresses lovely? Both are made from cotton linen chambray in peach tints, and I love the sheen that comes from this unique weave.

Personally, I love the pleats on the Emma ($64.90), which adds a touch of sophistication to the flared cheongsam. B who is turning five soon, fits nicely into the 4-6Y size Emma.

The design of Rebecca ($59.90), on 7 year old K below, is really unique, isn’t it? The flounce of the sleeves adds a little whimsy to the comfortable A-line dress. And there she is, looking like a 1960s Chinese calendar girl.

I was so pleased that there was this matching combination for the girls to be dressed in this Lunar New Year, and they look mighty pleased too, don’t you think?

Also, I really appreciate Sea Apple’s very considerate returns and exchange policy, which works wonderfully if the fit just isn’t right on your kid. Their 100% refund guarantee works like this – email Sea Apple within 7 days of receiving the item, bear postage for returning the item in its original condition (unused, unwashed, with original tags and labels still on), and you will receive a 100% refund.

My only beef is that the clothes are currently sized only till age 6. Thankfully, 7 year old K is petite, and thus can still fit nicely into the 4-6Y size of Rebecca, given the generous cut of that design. I think such classic designs are wonderful for girls up to age 8 or even 9, so hopefully the range of sizes expands!

Look at the lovely nook they put together at a recent pop-up!
