Royal Caribbean – so much to do (Part 3)

What I also loved about our holiday, was that there was something for everyone – including some of my favourite activities. First the swimming pools.  As you can see, there are deck chairs galore…

There were also two jacuzzis at the outdoor pool (housed beneath the little white roofs in the photo above), and two more near the indoor pools.

The ship itself has a very grand atrium section, where the older folks could listen to live crooning.  There was also a 15 min circus style arial display one evening, a mini Cirque du Soleil. It was quite impressive as they did those stunts in mid-air to some music…
I didn’t get a good shot of the huge entertainment theatre, but it seats about 500, and every night there was a different show.  The singing was of high standard, and the performances enjoyable for all ages.  The most spectacular performance was by Russian gymnasts who were Olympic medalists.  The strength and grace exhibited as they contorted their bodies and hung from rings… breathtaking.
I also had a chance to indulge in one of my favourite activities – Karaoke singing. Since I am also very not-shy, I readily joined in, even though it was public lounge style (at their pub section – just have to pay for the drinks you order), since they don’t offer private rooms.  As usual, there is a wide variety of singing ability on display, but thankfully there were enough decent crooners for it not to be too painful an overall experience.

If you can’t find an activity you like (Line-Dancing lessons next to the outdoor pool, bingo-sessions, table-tennis, rock-climbing, basketball game and movie screenings at huge screen facing the outdoor pool, spa sessions at a cost, and gambling at a higher cost), you can always stand near a window like K and stare at the sea-at-your-feet.

Soon enough, our 3 night cruise came to an end.  We docked early in the morning, ate a hearty breakfast at Windjammer, and snapped some photos of our island-city’s skyline before heading back to reality.

So we turned our gaze back to the open sea

We weren’t quite sure how a cruise would suit the family, so this was a 3 night ‘sample’.  But now we’re definitely keen to go again next year, after we’ve saved enough for a longer stay in a plusher room perhaps!

  1. Nice! I think a short trip on cruise is good enough for family with small kids. Just in case they get bored, we won’t know where to run to! =P

    1. Haha, actually there are so many fun activities for them they are less likely to get bored than the adults…
