Pledge-A-Shoe for a Cambodian child

I thought this was an especially apt and meaningful charity drive to Pledge-a-Shoe, alongside this year’s Cold Storage Kids Run.  It’ll be our first time taking part, and we’re really looking forward to it!

In Singapore, we have the luxury of pondering which brand of shoes to purchase for our children, when many kids in Cambodia count themselves privileged to even have one pair of the cheapest, roughest make.

The disadvantaged students at Caring for Cambodia Fund Singapore walk on rough terrain for long distances from their homes to their schools – some of them with worn out shoes; or no shoes at all. As a result, children as young as 2 years old are exposed to many foot injuries such as blisters, cuts, and wounds.

Thus, as we join in a family event such as the Kids Run on Sun 19 May, I thought it’s a great opportunity to teach our children about caring for others, even as they take part in a fun athletic activity.

With just $5, you make a pledge towards a pair of new shoes for these children in Cambodia. You can make your pledge through the following:

  1. Online at the official Cold Storage Kids Run Website
  2. Fun Fest @ F1 Pit Building on 4 & 5 May 2013

We’re definitely going to support this initative, how about you?
