An unassuming little gelato cafe has sprung up in the neighbourhood where I grew up.

It’s very popular, and has become one of our regular haunts too!

My SIL even drove all the way for about half an hour to get her waffle and gelato fix here one day.

Prices are reasonable, the made-upon-order waffle of good quality, and the gelato flavours simply yummy.

The girls’ favourite is Cookie Monster, whilst mine is the pistachio. I really liked my taste of the mint earl grey, and their rum-and-raisin packs a punch too. The dark chocolate, white macadamia and hazelnut flavours are great too.

Beautiful gelato

There is something about how gelato is presented that makes it look like a work of art. Almost too pretty to eat.

So many flavours to taste!

Though the photo is blurry, and the lighting not ideal, I thought it captured the essence of childhood.

Of moments spent in front of gelato or ice-cream freezers that you are just about tall enough to peer into, of licking little spoons filled with delightful morsels of your favourite flavours, of indecision because you want them all, of sharing a waffle with mummy and daddy.

True, that. The writing is indeed on the wall!

The cafe is a little hole-in-the-wall outfit, and tables and chairs are scattered outdoors, since most of the cafe is not air-conditioned.

But it is almost always full when we go there in the evenings. Just goes to show that you don’t always need fancy surrounds to have a good time with people who matter.

Will smile for waffles and ice-cream

I’m glad that there’s such great gelato to be found deep in the heartlands.

And for a shop name with biblical allusions! Indeed, one day, we will get to the land that is overflowing with milk and honey, for all eternity.

More deets on their FB page, if you’d like to swing by!

    1. Thanks! They were in a good mood that day, smiling and making other faces for the camera! 🙂

Yup, do try it if you’re in the east area!
