Getting to know a state-of-the-art sewing machine

I love cross-stitching and have several big projects framed up. I did sew some press studs for K’s dress recently, but haven’t really been using a sewing machine since Home Ec classes!

My patchy sewing – purely functional. Other stuff I’ve put a stitch to in recent years include my hubby’s army insignia and his wallet (yup).

So I was well-excited to go for a sewing class organised by Brother – we’d get to make a personalised tote! Wow.
We got to select a font from the very cool touch screen of the Innovis V7.
And… There was an experienced seamstress allocated to each pair of participants (to make sure we didn’t stitch our fingers to the bag haha!).

Since we still had some time, we played around with the various tricks this machine had up its sleeve.

There were various models and most have quilting and intricate embroidery functions too. Glad that my daddy already has a pretty new Brother that he’ll hopefully let me mess around with one day!

  1. That last picture is your dad’s Brother? Cool! Looks nifty! If I have to buy a sewing machine, will consider Brother! 🙂

    1. Nope – it was actually one of those on display outside! Yup, it’s really getting synonymous with sewing machines these days!
