Father’s day is fast approaching, and a bunch of us were asked to present a song for Father’s day in church.
And since that bunch included some fathers, they were asking, “Why are fathers presenting a song for father’s day?”. Shouldn’t they be sung to?
The choir-mistress had a quick and serious come-back to that – the song is meant to be a reflective one, sung by fathers too. *nothing left to say*
On another note, it’s actually one of my favourite songs, and incidentally the theme song of a church camp in some far flung island (Sedili?) when I was in my teens. I remember the impact those words made on me at that time, and the fact that it can still draw tears today.
So we hope that this Sunday, it is presented with sincere conviction, as a prayer of all believing fathers, this Father’s day. Happy Father’s Day to the best daddys in the world too – my daddy, my daddy-in-law and my children’s daddy!
