Escapade – Part 1

Since the kids are still not in primary school yet, we decided to take the first of one of our last few ‘non-peak holidays’ recently. They skipped two days of school, and we had a good four night stay in a lovely family-oriented hotel in a pretty isolated beach in Phuket.

The stay was wonderful for so many reasons. Firstly, the flight was short – less than 2 hours, so we took a budget airline for the first time since we had kids. It worked out well! In fact, the urm, tiny seats were just right (roomy!) for their sizes. 😛

Chuffed to embark on our adventure.

Secondly, the room we booked was a dream! Forking out a bit more for a pool access room (quiet lap pool with a private recess) was worth every cent and the girls spent hours there every day. I think the room costs less than half that of a tiny Orchard Road hotel room.

Thirdly, they had a fantastic Kids’ Club that’s free! The girls asked to go everyday and didn’t want to leave, even at mealtimes. Which meant that the hubs and I could take turns babysitting (B was too young to be left alone there) and each have some stunning alone-time.

Fourthly, a clean and calm beach was a mere 10 minute walk away from our room (read: gorgeous sunsets and sandplay!).

There were so many other little things that made the stay a wonderfully relaxing one, and such value for money. More on the food and such in upcoming posts, and also a couple of notes about what the least favourite aspects of our trip were…

p.s. Feel free to drop me an email if you’d like more details of our hotel etc.

  1. Ooh, can I have the details of the hotel please? We went to Phuket in Dec and had a whale of a time too! Think its such a good (near) destination for families with kids our age 🙂

    1. We were only at the beach for a while – morning sun, evening sunset, some cabanas and most deck chairs were tree-shaded. Most times we were in pools with sunblock, or in air-conditioned comfort of our room/kids’ club. 😛
