SuperHero Me 2017 – Plant it Forward: Crafting wheatgrass pots!

Remember I mentioned these super cool inclusive arts workshops recently? We attended one last weekend! I was blown away from the moment I stepped into the Objectifs Centre gallery (which is itself a very interesting heritage building that used to be the Middle Road Church, built circa 1870). It has been repainted to a very cheery yellow. The good folks… Read more →

Yellow Ribbon Run 2017

I thought that the @yellowribbonsg run was a meaningful one to sign up for, not least cos I have a few prison officer friends, 2 pastors who were former inmates, and many friends who help out in the Prisons Fellowship Singapore and provide counselling services to inmates and their families. We have also been participating in the Angel Tree hamper project, supported… Read more →

Shangri-la’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa (Part 2) – family staycay heaven

[After Part 1 of our review on the rooms, pools and service of Rasa Sentosa, here’s more on our recent experience there.] Breakfast at the Silver Shell Cafe So how was the buffet breakfast at the Rasa Sentosa? In one word, impressive. The Silver Shell Cafe is one of the largest breakfast and dining areas I’ve seen in a hotel. Its… Read more →

Shangri-la’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa (Part 1) – impeccable service, sprawling grounds, beautiful pools

We had a short staycation at Rasa Sentosa recently and it was such a good break from city life! We had heard so much about how kid-friendly it was, and our experience attests to it. One of the first hotels in Sentosa, Shangri-la’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa was established in 1993. It underwent an extensive 10-month makeover in 2010,… Read more →

Mid Autumn @ Gardens by the Bay 2016 + Tribal Tempo Floral Display

Mid-autumn is one of my favourite seasons at the Gardens by the Bay. We actually visited the Gardens twice, in September alone. The first time with some relatives from my maternal family, when we had a great lunch at Peach Garden Noodle House, followed by a stroll around the gardens. The second time was to experience the beautiful lantern light-up… Read more →

Tulipmania Rediscovered

It’s tulip season again at Gardens by the Bay! I like how GBTB has themed the displays this year, going back to the Ottoman origins of the beautiful flower. The first wild tulips actually originated from the mountains of Central Asia in the 16th century, and can be seen in the crockery, tiles and fabrics of the Ottoman empire. We were… Read more →

Grassroots book room 草根书室

Tucked along Bukit Pasoh Road is a Chinese bookshop named “草根书室“. It translates to Grassroots Book Room – which somehow just doesn’t give the same feel. 新加坡是一个金钱挂帅的社会,大家都急着开能赚大钱的生意。这样的书室近年来已寥寥无几。它的生存,一定不容易。租金,工资等,肯定是非常大的开支。它的存在,象征毅力,象征一种不屈不挠的精神,不是吗? It is a wonderful book room, and there is so much to see. A post card caught my eye, so I bought two, one which I mailed to a friend. It prompted a… Read more →
