Cake Spade – Tanjong Pagar

There is this little cake shop along Tanjong Pagar Road called Cake Spade. I love the name cos it’s so punny and apt. Check out the logo! (It’s a cake spade-knife! That looks like the Spades in a card set! And of course, the allusion to that bag brand…) Triple pun.

It’s the kind of shop name I wish I came up with. (Not that I have a shop, but you know what I mean right…)

It only seats a maximum of 6 inside, but there are tables and chairs outside that can seat about 8. There are a variety of baked goods on sale inside, along with some interesting bottled drinks too. They sell cupcakes, tofu cheesecakes, and specialities like Hummingbird cake and the Chocolate Blackout cake.

I wasn’t in a mood to be very healthy that day, so we went for the Red Velvet Cheesecake.  Which was Out of this World! The cheesecake biscuit-like base was super yummy, and the cheesecake layer itself was just right – not too sweet, not too bland… every mouthful a real delight.  Oh, and the cream cheese top was awesome too. Ok I’m running out of adjectives.

Overall, a very pleasant nook to chill out in, and indulge in some well-earned calories.  I like to say, spend your calorie quota on only the good stuff! And the quality cakes there are certainly worth every bite/byte.

You can read more about Cake Spade’s founder (who served us that day!) here.

I loveeeee their peach tofu cheesecake! The other day I bought some for my cousin, who happens to be an intellectual property lawyer. Obviously her first thoughts were about the legal infringements of the name and logo!! LOL (She did like the cakes though.)

Yes, it did cross my mind! But I think it’s clever enough a twist such that they shouldn’t get into trouble! haha.
