I do enjoy moments of solitude very much.

Some may say it’s the only-child syndrome, but then again most people are surprised when they find out that I am that. In any case, I do like shopping alone, and can easily spend half a day to a day all by myself.

Most of the time though, I feel more energised than drained after a chatty gathering. Hmm, a bundle of contradictions? Or a mix of introversion and extroversion?

Anyway, on one of these alone times, I checked out Cafe Pal.

It provided such a perfect setting. It was not totally full that day, so it was quiet enough for me to enjoy myself, and not have to deliberately block out other conversations edging in on me.

The decor is simple and welcoming. I liked the textured cardstock that was used to make up the menu, and the muted colours of white, grey and pale wooden colours at the long bar.

The table cloth and little lamps were nice touches too. I ordered a set lunch, which came with a refreshing glass of lemongrass. Best lemongrass drink I’ve tasted in a while.

I was prepared for really good food, having heard of the restaurant they partner with. And it was delectable indeed. I don’t usually enjoy fried wontons, but these were amazing. Chomped down every last bit.

I liked the atmosphere of the cafe. There was a relaxed, casual feel to it, and yet a certain dignified quality about it. Like a Peer with a common touch, such that all and sundry are put at ease.

Seems like its bubble tea drinks are really popular too, since folks kept coming through the door to order them to-go.

It was nice to be alone with just my own thoughts. To observe the surrounds with nothing specific to do. With no need of filling up silence with words. To enjoy some reflection, and much spacing out.

It was a pleasant afternoon. 🙂

    1. Aww you are too kind! Yes, some people might feel lonely or sad to eat alone but not us I guess! 🙂

  2. You went! It’s quite a kooky nook in town. I do like their food. Prefer eating there than its parent restaurant. Heh.

    1. Yup food was super. I want to attend one of your tea sessions! But will probably have to take leave on a weekday, consider having a weekday session some time later this year? 🙂

    2. We pop up elsewhere. We’ll see how that goes. In talks! Heh.The weekday sessions at Atomi way earlier last year were well received!
