Brave B at the dentist

I was so proud of B when she went through her second dentist check with no fuss at all.

The first time about 6 months ago, she cried when we asked her to sit alone, though she saw K and I getting our teeth cleaned right before her turn. In the end, she had to sit on my lap to get her teeth checked.

I was mainly concerned about whether she had developed cavities, since K did at quite a young age.

This time, my newly minted three year old gamely got up the chair, shifted up, up, up, as the assistant prompted her to, and showed zero fear!

She might seem like she was gripping the sides of the dentist chair, but she was actually quite steady!

Our favourite family dentist did a commendable job again in chatting with her, demonstrating against her thumb how the tooth polisher would work on her teeth…

I laughed out loud when it was time to polish, and she stuck her thumb up as the whirr of the dental polisher started up! Open your mouth and show your teeth, sweetheart, he’s not polishing your thumb this time! She rinsed and spat commendably (only a mother could write that) and soon it was over.

Super thankful that she had no cavities, and the brushing so far was working well. I asked if I should help brush her teeth, so that a more thorough job gets done, but the dentist said no. Just monitor that she brushes sufficiently. Which I thought was good advice, since one doesn’t really want the littles to get reliant on others brushing their teeth!

I must say this cheeky monkey of mine scores high on guts. Recently when she went for her vaccination jab, she didn’t even cry! Just winced a bit and that was all. High FIVE!
