On a balmy Sunday evening, we made our way down to the far eastern sea shore, to attend a wedding barbecue. It was certainly going to be a non-typical wedding, but then again, this was a very non-typical couple.

When will she stop “smiling” like she’s in pain??

The skies were a gorgeous bright blue
The waves lapped on the launching dock for wind-surfers
Blowing against the wind?

Little missy, arms akimbo, looking into the distance

The groom’s guitar case, decorated with words from his original song. He’s cut four albums already.

They met on board the Logos Hope, which I had also written about here. She’s from a small town in windy Illinois, and he, from sunny Singapore, halfway around the world. They were on the ship for two years, and got engaged shortly thereafter. A sweet bit of history was that the groom’s parents had also met on board an OM ship, albeit many years ago…

Each table had these quaint centerpieces – three longkang guppies in a jar were by far the favourite item, fascinating children, and bringing adults back to a simpler time.

Due to its proximity to the airport, every 10 minutes a plane would roar past. It looks tiny here but looked huge as it roared past our heads, interrupting speeches, songs and the like.
The sun began to set

And sunset cast its usual beautiful hues around the horizon

“Who switched off the light?” was the curious question that baby B asked. It had us rolling in peals of laughter.

The girls were thrilled to be so near the sea, without getting their feet sandy, or having to run away from waves
The colours of night

After the wedding, the groom would start seminary studies in the US, and both of them will be praying for direction as to what specific full-time ministry work to take up, after the completion of his studies in three years’ time. A life less ordinary indeed! Many blessings to the lovely couple, on their life ahead.

  1. What a lovely, unconventional wedding! When I read of weddings like that, I do sometimes wish we did things differently at our wedding! Love your girls’ dresses, by the way. Bubs has been asking for a long dress just like that!

    1. I know what you mean! Maybe we can aim for something like that for our 10th year anniversary (hey, that’ll fall on the same day *wink* for us!)

Thanks – I’ll be featuring where the dresses are from, tomorrow. So stay tuned! 🙂

  2. Yes, lovely dresses! J has been asking for longer dresses too, I think it must be the princess craze in them 🙁

    1. Thank you!

Yes, there was once K kept saying she wanted her school uniform skirt to be long and swishy! Can faint.
